Aspectra, a Dutch based distributor and manufacturer of professional camera related products, is proud to announce that Camgear, manufacturer of professional camera support equipment based in Bejing, decided to appoint Aspectra as main distributor of its products in Europe and the Middle Eastern region.
Camgear designs and manufactures camera support equipment and video and photo accessories for video, broadcasting and film industry. Jack Guo, Managing Director of Camgear Inc., added: “The main added value of a distribution partner such as Aspectra is their knowledge of and experience in the regions we have not yet had the chance to develop. Seeing the Sales team at work gave me the confidence that they are the right company with the right connections to help us expand the business and develop the brand.”
During the NAB show in Las Vegas from 24 -27 April 2017 a selection of Camgear products will be on display at the Aspectra booth in the Central Hall – C9518.

[fulltext] =>At NAB 2017, PAG, one of the broadcast industry’s longest established global providers of innovative portable power solutions, will launch its new travel charger, powerhub and battery reader for the PAGlink Gold Mount System of compact, lightweight, intelligent linking batteries.
The new PAGlink Micro Charger is an ultra-compact travel charger. It features a single charging shoe that clips onto Gold Mount battery contacts. The lightweight charger is compatible with both the PL94 and PL150 PAGlink Gold Mount batteries. PAGlink offers unique technology that allows up to 8 batteries to be linked for simultaneous charging. Three 94Wh PAGlink Gold Mount batteries can be charged overnight (11 hours), without user-intervention. The Micro Charger can also be used to charge Anton Bauer Li-Ion batteries sequentially.
PAG claims its new charger is the broadcast industry’s smallest, most economic, multi-battery charger.
PAG will also debut its new PAG Gold Mount Battery Reader. Managing your PAGlink Gold Mount batteries efficiently using data stored in their processor,
can be achieved easily using this new Reader. The compact device can be clipped onto the battery contacts to reveal useful information such as the number of cycles, the date of manufacture, capacity in Ah, software version, serial number and more.
The Reader is compatible with both the PL94 and PL150 PAGlink Gold Mount batteries, as well some Anton Bauer models. You can now track the usage of your inventory, large or small, and manage it more efficiently, ensuring that all your batteries are used equally. The Reader can also be used to put PAGlink batteries into sleep mode for transport or storage.
“This inexpensive accessory is a must for broadcasters and rental houses”, says PAG’s UK Sales Director Nigel Gardiner.
Last but not least, PAG will introduce the new PAGlink PowerHub which provides all the outputs you need for your 12V camera accessories. The Hub is designed to be used between the two PAGlink Gold Mount batteries, powering your camera and accessories simultaneously, while maintaining the hot-swap capability. It is compatible with both the PL94 and PL150 PAGlink Gold Mount models.
The PowerHub features 5 ports that accept interchangeable D-Tap, Lemo (2-pin), Hirose (4-pin) and USB connectors. Four D-Taps and a USB (5V 1A) are issued as standard. The low-profile PowerHub is manufactured from a durable, lightweight ABS and occupies a half inch deep gap between two PAGlink batteries.
“The inexpensive and versatile PowerHub is user-configurable and so much smarter than just D-Taps in a battery”, says PAG America’s Sales Director Bob Carr.
The Gold mount Battery reader is already available and both the Microcharger and the Powerhub will be shipping in the second quarter of 2017.
PAG products are distributed by Carr Distribution Group in the USA and they will be presented at the Aspectra booth #C9518 during this years NAB Show in Las Vegas.

[fulltext] =>The camRade transPorters series exists of two grey Cordura® carrying bags. These bags are flexible and compact and offer a solution for safe transportation of cameras (with flip up monitor) and accessories.
“These days a lot of camera manufacturers cut on included accessories and the user needs to purchase these items separately. We saw the opportunity to develop a safe storing solution for both options. A compact bag, needless to say it’s lightweight yet very strong, and flexible in use. Whether you use it for your camera and some necessary accessories or nothing but accessories and gear, this bag has everything you could wish for.” says René van der Reiden, International Sales Manager at Aspectra.
Pockets of many shapes and sizes are added in the front and back pouch for easy access. In the main compartment a mesh pocket with zipper is located, together with a strap to secure your camera and 2 removable dividers. This allows you to organize your gear completely to your liking. The bag is supplied with three accessory protection items; a pouch to store an extra lens, a cover for the lens and hood on the camera and a pouch to store small items such as cables. The items can be secured inside the bag but can also be used separately, which allows you even more flexibility.
Carry the bag with the included comfortable padded shoulder strap and the soft suede handles. A cinch strap in the main compartment keeps the camera secured during transportation. The bottom of the bag is equipped with a protective armored plate, covered by a waterproof non-slip cover. Due to its triangular shape it is easy to fold the bag together for storage, so it takes up a minimum of space when not in active use.
The transPorter Medium with an interior length 45 cm and 17.7, is perfect for camcorders and handheld cameras such as the Sony PXW-Z150, PXW-X70, HXR-NX100, Canon XA25/XA30/XA35, XF200/205, JVC GY-HM170/200, Panasonic AG-AC30 and all DSLR cameras.
The transPorter Large is designed for cameras up to 52cm / 20.5 inches in length, such as the Sony PXW-X200, PXW-X160/180, PMW-200, PXW-Z100, Canon XF300/305, JVC GY-HM620/660, Panasonic AG-UX180/UX90, HC-X1/1000, AG-HPX250/255 and all other camcorders with flip-up screen.

After a partial management buy-out last year December, Alphatron Broadcast Electronics separated from the Alphatron Group. As of per 22 August 2016 the company will continue its activities under the new name Aspectra B.V. “This name-change is a result of the wish to continue the company separately from the Alphatron Group. Learn morestdClass Object ( [id] => 65 [title] => A prompt is a prompt is a prompt. Or is it? [alias] => a-prompt-is-a-prompt-is-a-prompt-or-is-it [introtext] =>Brian Larter, director of CueScript, explains why a different approach to prompting was needed...
[fulltext] =>Prompting can be overlooked in the initial phase of any new facility or project. Indeed, it is often taken for granted: “It’s only words being displayed, right?” We have heard it so many times, but when you consider that those ‘words’ and how they are delivered – confidently? fluently? nervously? like a rabbit in the headlights? – contribute enormously to the success of a broadcast.
There can be a "one size fits all" approach to prompting too, but with the many forms of production in today’s broadcasting world - from a major sporting event, to the biggest Saturday night entertainment show, to a 24-hour news operation or prompting on location - it is unlikely that a single system will suit every circumstance. The equipment needs to be designed for purpose, interchangeable and adaptable. Simply placing an off-the-shelf display is not the answer, and we are frequently called upon to save the day when the ‘easy’ route has been taken.
NAB 2014 marked the debut of CueScript to the broadcast market. We didn’t want to be ‘just another prompting company’; we set out to change the way broadcasters and presenters alike use prompting. Our biggest asset as a new company was that we had over 50 years of collective prompting experience, yet we were unfettered by legacy systems to support. We were in the unique position to combine old-school values with the latest technology to create innovative prompting solutions for today’s broadcast environment.
Our mission and goal has always been to provide a prompter setup that works straight of the box, and that makes the on-screen talent feel comfortable and at ease. It is important to have the features required in today’s many production streams, including the very brightest displays, integrated cue lights, selectable power modes for when power on the camera head is limited, the ability to easily add presenter talent monitors, time displays and camera numbering, to name but a few! These features are part of our world and what we live and breathe on a daily basis.
But prompting, like other areas of the broadcast workflow, does not stand still. We are now receiving requests for the ability to offer IP-based prompting into a facility enabling single production galleries to control multiple studios over great distances.
Similarly, designing a prompter display to work with the many different robotic vendors and not impede on their operation is a big challenge that we are encountering, whether these are small PTZ setups or fully automated systems. Weight and stability (no movement) factor highly and have to be considered in the design process of a prompting system.
To achieve what we have in these past two years from a standing still position has been truly humbling. The key to our continuing success has been working closely with customers and listening; this has been key to the development path we have taken. And we will keep on listening.

Learn morestdClass Object ( [id] => 72 [title] => CueScript Puts Big Words Into Little Packages [alias] => cuescript-puts-big-words-into-little-packages [introtext] =>As a one-person prompting operation, Sandi Winslow reveals how much she loves the design of her CueScript Teleprompter...
[fulltext] =>Size does indeed matter. On a recent 4K shoot with the larger-than-life-sized Shaquille O’Neal, I was reminded of how much I love the design and ergonomics of my compact but fully featured CueScript CSM15 15-inch LED high-brightness HD-SDI teleprompter monitor.
As a one-person operation, I have to travel with all the equipment I’m going to need on a job: that’s the prompter monitor, glass, hood, laptop and a 3-inch riser plate for when I have to attach to smaller cameras. If it weren’t for the compact, transportable CueScript system, I could hardly stand so tall next to someone of Shaq’s stature. I can place the glass inside CueScript’s foldable hood, and then put the whole thing in a single bag that I carry with me, so it’s double protected. It’s lightweight, and once it’s unpacked and I’ve got the mount on the tripod’s quick-release plate, I’m fully set up in just a few minutes.
When I walk into a studio or boardroom, or wherever the shoot happens to be, I don’t want the production team or the talent to have to wait for me. It’s that quick setup time that makes me invisible. And it’s the stability and clarity of the CueScript prompter that makes me shine in the eyes of my client. Sandi Winslow of OnCue Prompting in Atlanta is a teleprompting expert with more than 20 years of experience.

[fulltext] =>We know every user has his own reason to love working with our products. That’s why we highly appreciate feedback and reviews from our (professional) users in the field.
Below you'll find an independent and extensive review made by Ulrich Mors, a professional cameraman and broadcast/film camera trainer for companies, universities and freelance professionals, from Germany. He is also a Sony Independent Certified Expert (ICE).
‘If a cameraman asks me today what to buy next, I would advise him not to buy the next cool LED light, but to invest into one viewfinder to be used on all cameras he is shooting with! If you once know the menus of the Alphatron, if you once know its colors and focussing/exposure features, you will profit from that on every shoot, with every camera!’ says Ulrich Mors.
This video is an illustrated report of Ulrich’s opinion on both the Sony PXW-FS7 viewfinder and our EVF-035W-3G viewfinder. It is spoken in German, however English subtitles have been added.
The whitepaper is available in both German and English. It just take a few minutes to read, and it will give you a clear overview of pros and cons of both products.

Learn morestdClass Object ( [id] => 67 [title] => New PAGlink 150Wh Batteries [alias] => new-paglink-150wh-batteries [introtext] =>PAG launched its new PL150 Series of PAGlink Intelligent Linking Batteries at NAB in April 2016.
[fulltext] =>The new Li-Ion batteries offer an increased capacity of 150Wh - 50% more than PL96 batteries - with no increase in size. PAG has used the latest high-capacity Li-Ion cells to create a 150Wh battery that is housed in the same case as the established 96Wh models, ensuring that PL150 batteries have the highest energy density of any Li-Ion battery of equivalent capacity brought to market.
The series comprises two V-Mount options: the PL150e features PAG’s now familiar 5- light Run-Time & Capacity indicator, while the PL150T incorporates the longestablished numeric Run-Time & Capacity display. These models will ship in Q3 of 2016, and will be followed by a Gold Mount version that features a numeric display and a high current-draw capability.
Every functional benefit of the PAGlink battery system is maintained with the new PL150 Series. Batteries can be linked to multiply capacity, from 150Wh to 300Wh with just two batteries, in this case. The current draw capability increases from 8A to 12A when V-Mount batteries are linked (from 10A to 12A for the Gold Mount option).
The new 150Wh batteries are ideal for applications where all-day power is required from fewer batteries, and when changing a battery or powering-down the camera is not an option. Alternatively, hot-swapping provides continuous power. The 150Wh batteries can be linked with the 96Wh versions for charge or discharge. Both are managed safely by the PAGlink intelligent technology. Batteries can be charged using any reputable Li-Ion charger. Reliability, durability and the highest safety standard are integral to the battery design and consistent across PAG’s whole range of Li-Ion batteries.
In keeping with the latest PAG-developed technology, the 150 batteries communicate automatically with multiple camera data systems and display remaining capacity in the camera viewfinder/LCD.
The PL150 Series has been tested by an independent authority to UN standards, in compliance with air transport safety regulations. A capacity above 100Wh but below 160Wh means that two units can per person be carried in cabin luggage, when you fly.
