Not just improvements on the service to our customers, but also in the sense of increased service level of our products and of course our annual customer event right there on our booth.
Aspectra offers a varied range of professional camera accessories through a worldwide network of resellers. Building long-term partnerships with our suppliers and resellers is what we do best. We’re able to work with top brands and add value by utilizing our expertise and many years of experience in the business.
Besides an amazing hospitality section, we have created room to feature 4 great brands on our booth; Camgear, camRade, PAG and TVLogic. Camgear creates high quality fluid heads and tripod systems and will showcase a selection of all their ‘hit series’ including the latest Elite series with 3S-Fix Quick Lock tripods. For camRade, professional protective covers and bags which are tailored for protection, we'll introduce a number of new rain covers for ARRI, Sony and JVC, and an innovative collection of travelMates.
TVLogic, manufacturer of high performance monitors for the digital broadcast and professional video market is represented with a fine selection of their latest and best field production and multi-format monitors. Learn morestdClass Object ( [id] => 107 [title] => PAG focuses on new Mini PAGlink batteries at NAB [alias] => pag-focuses-on-new-mini-paglink-batteries-at-nab [introtext] =>PAG will be showing pre-production models of its new Mini PAGlink system of smaller, lighter, intelligent linking batteries at NAB 2019 on booth C7840 (Aspectra booth).
[fulltext] =>Designed to address the smaller 4K broadcast camcorder market (EVA1, FS5 etc), Mini PAGlink provides all the benefits of PAG’s battery linking technology in a more compact format. The 50Wh batteries incorporate the 12V D-Tap and 5V USB outputs broadcasters need. The USB can be swapped by the user for a Lemo, Hirose or another D-Tap. Mini PAGlink replaces the multitude of incompatible batteries and chargers that are currently required when broadcasters adopt smaller camcorders.
Unlike other ‘mini’ format batteries, Mini PAGlink offers intelligent linking. It enables you to control the capacity and weight of your power source to suit the application. If you are shooting handheld, you can keep it light with just 1 or 2 batteries, giving you up to 100Wh. If your set-up is tripod-mounted, and includes multiple accessories, you can use 3 or 4 batteries, up to 200Wh, to provide a longer run-time.
PAG will be taking orders at NAB for the new MPL50 Gold Mount Battery, Model 9351, with delivery expected at the end of Q2 2019. The V-Mount version, Model 9351V will be available later in the year.
PAG will also show the new, enhanced version of its L90 Slim V-Mount Li-Ion battery. It now incorporates a built-in D-Tap output and an improved Run-Time, Capacity and Data display, which is brighter and easier to read in strong sunlight. These new features are incorporated in the PAG L90 Slim Battery Model 9307V from 1st March 2019.

Learn morestdClass Object ( [id] => 105 [title] => PAG previews new Mini PAGlink system at IBC [alias] => pag-previews-new-mini-paglink-system-at-ibc [introtext] =>PAG is using IBC to preview its new Mini PAGlink system of smaller and lighter linking batteries, designed for smaller 4K+ cameras.
[fulltext] =>Mini PAGlink has all the benefits of established PAGlink technology, combined with a reduced form factor and increased durability. It comprises powerful and versatile 50Wh and 100Wh intelligent linking batteries and smaller battery mounts to match.
V-Mount and Gold Mount Mini PAGlink power systems will be available by the end of 2018.The dimensions of PAG’s new batteries make them ideally suited to powering smaller 4K+ cameras, such as the Panasonic EVA1, Sony FS5 and FS7. They offer extended run-times and 12V outputs for accessories. Their compatibility with larger cameras and existing PAGlink chargers makes them versatile and economic to integrate. They are equally as effective for powering LED lights and director’s monitors.
Mini PAGlink gives you the ability to control the capacity and weight of your power source to suit the application. If you are shooting handheld with an EVA1, you can keep it light with just 1 or 2 batteries. If your Varicam set-up is tripod-mounted and includes multiple accessories, you can use 2 or 3 batteries to provide more current or a longer run-time.
The patented PAGlink digital technology allows any mix of 50 and 100Wh batteries, in any state-of-charge, to be linked. Their capacities can be accessed in combination, allowing a current draw of up to 12A. A battery can be added or hot-swapped to ensure that you capture that all-important moment. Sharing the current demand between batteries prolongs overall life and provides a better return on investment.
Unlike other ‘mini’ format batteries, Mini PAGlink offers intelligent linking for charge or discharge; a high-resolution run-time, capacity and data display; digital communication to display capacity in the VF/LCD; and user-configurable 12V outputs. PAG’s new mini battery case design includes a D-Tap and a 2A USB output. However, the USB can be swapped, by the user, for a Lemo or Hirose connector unit.
Mini PAGlink batteries can be charged individually or linked using existing PAGlink chargers. Up to 8 batteries can be charged simultaneously on each position. PAG also offers a low-cost, ultra-compact, Micro Charger, which is the ideal travel partner. Mini PAGlink batteries have been independently tested to UN standards and have a flight-friendly capacity; they are included in the personal device Li-Ion battery allowance of 20 units per person, when you fly.
The batteries are designed to withstand the toughest working conditions. The resilient, moulded case features a rubberised outer band for added protection and safer handling. The battery also features two bush inserts (1/4”) that enable the mounting of a handle or an accessory bracket to individual or linked batteries.
Mini PAGlink batteries are the first to feature PAG’s new modular design concept. Each battery comprises easy to replace modules that make servicing quicker and cheaper, whilst continuing to comply with UN standards.

Learn morestdClass Object ( [id] => 100 [title] => Phil Arntz reviews the VFM-055A 5" OLED viewfinder monitor; Is It a True LCD-Killer? [alias] => phil-arntz-reviews-the-vfm-055a-5-oled-viewfinder-monitor-is-it-a-true-lcd-killer [introtext] =>At IBC 2017 TVLogic introduced their latest 5” viewfinder monitor in their VFM-series, the VFM-0055A. It is TVLogic's first 5.5-inch OLED (organic LED) on-camera viewfinder monitor with native 1920x1080 resolution.
[fulltext] =>It offers truly cinematic image quality with deep blacks, wide-gamut color reproduction, a very wide viewing angle, and support for multiple video formats via 3G-SDI and HDMI 1.4 inputs. Useful functions include cinema camera log-to-linear LUT conversion, HDMI-SDI cross-converted output, waveform and vector scope, markers, focus assist, audio level meters and much more. Comparing it with the previous model in the range, the VFM-058W, it has a lot of advantages and improvements such as Anamorphic De-squeeze, 3D LUT import via USB, HDR Emulation and Split zoom, but reading the review from DoP Phil Arntz, there are still plenty reasons to use this existing monitor too.
Phil says;
"The TVLogic's VFM-058W has been one of the go to monitors for focus pullers, camera operators and cinematographers for a while. Rental houses loved these monitors as they stand up to the abuse of the production environment.
As a Director of Photography, the announcement of the VFM-055A excited me. I am always looking for a more accurate rendition of contrast and colours and onboard monitors are often lacking in that regard. Usually I'd find myself going between camera and a larger reference monitor, however on some jobs this is just not an option due to time constraints. The VFM-055A Monitor by TVLogic bridges that gap."
"TVLogic's new VFM-055 is a fantastic monitor for those Director of Photography's who are always close to the camera. The OLED technology gives you an accurate representation of your image, with deep blacks and accurate colour rendering."
"It's small enough to be an on-camera monitor and the color and black rendition is superb. I've found myself trusting this small monitor more and more and it's definitely hard to go back to a non OLED on board monitor. Nothing comes without trade offs, so you are trading accurate colours and deep blacks for some brightness as compared to the 058W, which means that you will need a sunshade for exteriors or bright studio days. All in all, the VFM-055A sits nicely alongside the 058W. Perhaps it's best seen as an onboard monitor that reassures you as a director of photography rather than a replacement of the 058W which is well loved by Focus Pullers all around the world."
TVlogic is always working on improvements of their products and the latest firmware update for the VFM-055A is available for download.

Learn morestdClass Object ( [id] => 96 [title] => Increasing demand for high quality conversion lenses [alias] => increasing-demand-for-high-quality-conversion-lenses [introtext] =>The new generation of 4K camcorders with fixed lenses is currently conquering the marketplace. However, optical limitations of these cameras create a demand for high quality conversion lenses, as they extend the functionality of the camera.
[fulltext] =>Zunow is a focal optics designer in Japan and has been around for more than 80 years. They have designed conversion lenses for Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Nikon and Olympus. Rose-Anne Wiersma, Marketing & Communications Coordinator at Aspectra - worldwide distributor of Zunow attachment lenses since 2009 - comments on this phenomenon; ‘We have not been very busy creating any buzz on these products the last couple of years, but the demand has been growing quite a bit. We see increasing views on social media and larger orders from our resellers around the globe. Especially for the wide angle conversion lenses’.
Good reasons to start working with a Wide Angle Conversion Lens
The focal length is the distance in millimeters from the optical center of the lens to the film or sensor when your lens is focused at infinity. In general, it can be stated that the shorter the focal length of the lens, the wider the field of view (FOV), and the more you'll be able to fit into your frame.
Using wide angle converters with your camera can bring you great advantages;
- It helps take in a large outdoor view that is too big to be captured by a normal lens
- It helps capture a tiny interior where you can’t move far enough back to show the complete picture.
- ‘Going wide’ on an image can help you create perspective and dynamics into your shots. By focusing on a specific object, using existing lines and playing with an interesting fore- or background you can present your subject into relation to its surroundings.
New wide angle conversion lens from Zunow
The WFK-95, suited for (4K) cameras such as the Panasonic AG-DVX200, has now been replaced by the successor WFK-95X. This new lens is made to also fit cameras with a 67mm filter thread such as the AG-UX90 and AG-UX180. High 4K resolution and multicoated glass elements make the lens a perfect match for these new 4K cameras, but can also be used on cameras such as the AG-160A/130A and AJ-PX270. To make your set-up complete use it with a rubber hood (HU-127) to protect your shots from unwanted flares.
